What the hell is that?

So here’s another draft that may or may not make it to publishing, but recently I’ve done a little roaming through a few RP Sims and people just like to point things out to me.  Often times there is a little scoffing involved, ’cause c’mon… ya know?  So it brings me to this post.

First I want to mention that I did cover “Plausibility” in one of my workshop pages here:  “Plausibility”

But this might point out other angles.  And while I don’t wish to scoff at my scoffing friends, this time my rant is towards the nay-sayers.

So there we are walking around an RP sim and some dude is dragging a chick around by a leash.  She’s wearing nothing but a leather harness, a ball gag, and a collar.  Almost immediately the IM’s start, and I can’t even imagine how they were flying amongst other friends at the place–because yes, the place was full of good RP’rs, and Mary Sues and their Marty Stu boyfriends (or the other way around).  “OMG, you see that?  Why do that here?”

You could argue that it was neither the time nor place.  No, this was NOT a BDSM sex sim.  This was not some BDSM embellished RP sim.  BDSM was NOT part of the storyline in this sim–but it was a somewhat dystopian environment–and face it, BDSM exists in the real world.  I HAVE seen RL people on a leash walking down Duval Street in Key West.  I haven’t seen it in San Francisco yet (would help if I got out there), but I’m told it’s not unusual.

Does not happen IRL at all! Right?

 

What these RP’rs are completely missing is that, instead of OOC whispering in IM’s about this, they could be whispering IC’ly about this and completely missed the opportunity to add color to their RP and environment.

Was this scenario “plausible” (worthy of belief)?

Yes.  Inappropriate perhaps, inciting, conversation worthy.  But do we not have those incidents in real life?  Because folks are ALWAYS well-behaved and appropriate in real life, right?  I don’t even know where we get such ideas for RP, I mean we are all just…

I’ll tell you what isn’t plausible.  What isn’t believable is that everyone would ignore it.  I mean sure, in real life, presented with such a situation many would try to pretend it wasn’t happening, but they would not be able to NOT sneak a peek.  There is always an ass that would say something snide, or perhaps someone who was involved in the “lifestyle” that would approach and say something.  Someone might say something about indecency, someone might cover their child’s eyes and run away, someone might scream about morality and call the cops.  And of course, authorities might come by and issue warnings/arrests for public indecency or whatever.  After that, folks could have gone home and whispered about it to their friends and family members.  “You’ll never guess what we saw today”  Not to mention the whole mess of legalities and crap that would come after if the cops were involved.

Instead we focus on the fact that this person is “looking for attention” and how adamant we are in not giving it to them.  We are just going to RP drinking another cup of coffee because we don’t like it when someone draws attention to themselves and away from us, huh?  I’ve heard that complaint many times.  Anytime someone tried to make a big ongoing scene in which they were center/victim/star it was allegedly all for attention–even if this person was doing it as a way to provide RP for a larger group of people.  Chief of Police gets kidnapped by Mafia.  Police involved, bounty hunters involved, criminals involved, a house gets blow up, firemen involved.  She gets beat up, doctors and nurses and hospital involved.  But… nupe.  So many would still whine about how she did it for attention.

Whatever!

So what if we rp’d this out?  Whispered IC’ly amongst ourselves?  “What the hell is wrong with these people?”  Added one more thing to our character’s experiences “I once saw a girl on a leash…”  Tried to interfere and caused a commotion?  Face it, not all RP scenarios have to be about you (they are about ME dammit!).  What would be the harm and playing along?

Yes, this character scenario was most definitely “plausible”.

 

Okay, so maybe that song is not the same, but the post reminded me of the title and I wanted to hear it.

Another sim I was in allowed furries… in a totally non-plausible way.  Plausible would have been that we were in an alternate universe and furries were a part of our lives.  But in this sim they tried to appease furries and furry-sympathizers by letting them in provided it was understood they were humans wearing a costume.  So in essence, we had a city that had college football mascots running around in costume 24-7.  Some were cops.  So we had a few guys, in furry costumes, with their police uniform over that.

 

Totally plausible to have this walk up to your door when you call the cops over a break-in.

 

Look, all I’m saying is before you write it off, work it out in your head.  Could this have happened?  What would my character do?  How should we react?  How involved do I want to get?

Just quit it and flippin’ RP already.

 

Douchebags!

You’ve gotta ask yourself a question: “Am I a Douchebag?” Well, are ya, punk?

Well, I’m just gonna say you are lucky.  I’m posting twice today! YAY!

I couldn’t help it.  I had already planned on doing the other one and I wanted to be sure I posted it, and then this thing happened last night so here is a rant with NO APOLOGIES.  Like I seriously DGAFF if anyone gets hurt by this one.  I’m thinking no one is.  I’m even thinking that IF the person that this post is about was to read it he would just laugh and call me a bitch, and of course, I’m just saying all this because he snubbed me or I’m a bitch and I am sorry I didn’t get to have a piece of his prims.  WTF-ever.

So here is how it started.  I was bored last weekend.  Like bored enough to do weird searches on SL and see what kind of places came up and go visit them and see what people did there.  I’ve already admitted to my SL Slutdom, so I’m not gonna apologize for it.   I too was one of those that, way back in 2005,  spent  2 hrs on my avatar appearance sliders (and still look like a noob with a purple sweater) when I first logged on, then talked to a few people and said “huh? Sex? Here? For real? WHERE?”   My first house was a mine field of pink and blue poseballs and I had to remember whenever I invited folks over to be sure to type /1hide before I tp’d them over.

Anywhooo… there I am at this “club”, just hanging out.  Yes, at times I snickered but I did get to meet some interesting folks.  Then I left.

Last night some guy I don’t know, and don’t ever remember seeing ANYWHERE sends me an IM:

XXXXXX: Well now, if you were allpa equipped you’d be a fun rape adventure 😉
Kali (kaliope.karas) raises a brow.
XXXXXXX: Saw you at that shithole club a bit ago. Able to meet and chat? You seem….a bit more elaborate than the usual crowd that hangs t here.

Right after that he sends me a TP.   Well, I wasn’t going to take it, but I was going to be polite about it.  I mean, I did go to that place and that’s kinda what people go to that place for, right?  Wasn’t gonna be all Innocent Slut Mary Sue now, or get all self-righteous or even lie and claim I was doing research.  I also had a few conversations going in IM’s with friends.  So, when I didn’t respond to him or take his TP fast enough he says:

XXXXXX: Oh screw it then, if you’re too much of a damn louse when chatting, i’d probably just have to carry your dead weight in a roleplay. Not only was i wrong about you, but it looks like you’re just another garbage quality waste of a life , as many wannabes that go to that club, are. Kill yourself.

XXXXXX: (busy response): If you’re getting this messege, you’re muted. Either means we didn’t click, or you turned out to be a pathetic waste of my time. If it’s the latter, then fuck off and jump off a bridge.

Can you say DOUCHEBAG?  Not that he even deserved a response, but how more of a douchebag could he be that he MUTED me right after insulting me?  A DOUCHEBAG that can’t take what he dishes out, that’s how much more.  So  I checked his profile.  Guess what?  Its full of self-serving, hypocritical, idiotic ramblings about how we, the readers of his douchebag profile, have had the good fortune of stumbling upon a douchebag that’s in the middle of discovering his douchebag self or some such drivel, how he’s working on forming who he is (a bit of a rounder, fuller douchebag?).  He claims to be trustworthy and honorable (we would never know if he didn’t tell us).  In fact, his whole profile screams DOUCHEBAG.   Like the part where he claims to have a mysterious side to him–that screams “OHMYGERD SOMEONE TALK TO ME AND ASK ME ABOUT THE MYSTERIES OF MY LIFE”   Or the part that claims that the few people he allows in his circle of friends are just DRAWN to him–not that he likes them or appreciates them as friends and humans.  He lets them in because the poor slobs are just drawn to him and can’t help themselves!  How noble of him to let them in and ease their suffering.

I also love the part where he claims he would not balk at disciplining someone who deserves it and make it so bad they would wish they were never born.  *insert snarky giggle here* This one kills me, like all those profiles that say “don’t mess with so and so or you will deal with me”.  What are you going to do, Douchebag, whip my pixels with a prim whip?  Should I go buy the tattoo layers for that?  Ohh baby that hurts… Douchebag!  He claims to be a SKILLED roleplayer (fails as a human being), has a list of requirements for people to approach him (especially girls that are dying to rp his douchebag prim), and warns girls to not be “drama queens” around him because he will “drop you off at the nearest garbage dump”

And now it pisses me off even more that the DOUCHEBAG got a whole post out of me.

Well I’m just gonna say I used him as an example for a Public Service Announcement to warn people.  That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.  If you see any profiles like this, no matter how hot the avi looks – and honestly I don’t even remember what his looks like because I don’t remember seeing him, but he probably looks like a DOUCHEBAG, just close it and look the other way!  This guy is such an ass he told me to go kill myself?  Without ever speaking to me he called me a “garbage quality waste of a life”.  What kind of asshole says things like that?  A douchebag.

STAY AWAY!  Ignore the IM’s.  It’s okay, you won’t even have to  mute them because they will mute you first for no flippin’ reason.   Don’t get helplessly drawn to them and ask them about these mysteries they are letting you know they have, he’s not going to tell you, he’s just smile and gloat as he pictures you squirming in your seat and begging for him to tell you.  It only fills the douchebag up some more!

If there is anything positive coming out of this, is the fact that my vanity has been stroked.  This guy saw me somewhere and was so stricken by my pixel beauty and my brilliant profile that he wrote down my name.  Oh he tried to resist me, but my allure is such that after a few days he broke down like a baby and cried and IM’d me, then broke down some more when I didn’t respond to his IM immediately, feeling so weak for giving in to my charms and my siren spell, that he felt the need to mute me and delete/erase my name.  He will live in torment, his desire for my pixels unfulfilled for the rest of his miserable douchebag life.
